What the scanner does
- Finds the document. The page boundary is detected automatically — no manual corner-dragging.
- Straightens the perspective. A photo taken at an angle becomes a straight-on rectangle at the right proportions.
- Flattens curves and creases. Curled pages and open books are dewarped with a neural model; book spreads can be split into two pages.
- Cleans the lighting. Shadows are evened out and paper is whitened — or switch to black & white for a classic scanner look.
How it works
- Photograph the document. Get the whole page in frame; a contrasting background helps.
- Drop the photo above. JPG, PNG, WebP, and iPhone HEIC photos work — up to five files, 20 MB each.
- Pick the output. Scanned PDF for filing and email, Scanned JPG for a cleaned image. Choose Open book layout for a two-page spread.
- Convert and download. Results appear in a few seconds; files delete themselves after an hour.
Good for
- Receipts, contracts, and forms photographed on a desk.
- Book and magazine pages — the spine curvature is flattened, not just cropped.
- Whiteboards and handouts shot at an angle from a chair.
- Turning a camera-roll backlog of paper into filed PDFs.
FAQ
How is this different from just converting a photo to PDF? A plain photo-to-PDF conversion embeds the photo as-is: tilted, with the table or floor visible around the page. Scanning finds the document's boundary, crops away the background, corrects the camera angle so the page is a straight-on rectangle, and evens out the lighting — the same thing the iPhone Notes scanner does.
Does it work on photos of open books with a curved spine? Yes. Choose the Open book layout and the scanner flattens the curvature around the spine with a neural dewarping model, then splits the spread into two separate pages. Single curled or folded pages are also flattened automatically, even without book mode.
Which photo formats can I scan? JPG, PNG, WebP, and iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos, up to 20 MB each and five photos per batch. Output is a scanned PDF (one per photo) or a cleaned JPG.
What do the enhancement options do? Color evens out shadows and whitens the paper while keeping ink and stamp colors. Black & white produces a crisp, high-contrast scanner look with the smallest file size. Original only fixes the geometry and leaves the photo's colors untouched.
Is the document scanner free and private? Yes. No signup, no watermark. Uploads are private and files are deleted automatically after one hour.
