Your files are deleted within an hour. We never store them permanently, never read them manually, and never hand them to anyone else.
1. What we collect
Files you upload
When you use Formatly, the file you upload is processed in a signed, time-boxed storage bucket. We:
- Delete it automatically within one hour of upload.
- Do not retain copies of any kind after that window.
- Do not read, review, or index the content.
- Do not use uploads to train models.
Technical metadata
We collect a minimal amount of technical data to run the service reliably:
- IP address (rate limiting, abuse prevention).
- Browser and OS strings.
- File type and size in aggregate — not linked to you.
- Success/failure rates for each conversion path.
Contact info
If you email support, we see your address and whatever you wrote. We keep the thread long enough to help you, then archive or delete it.
2. What we use it for
- Running the conversion you asked for.
- Keeping the service up, fast, and free of abuse.
- Replying to your support emails.
- Nothing else.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Files and metadata pass through a small set of infrastructure providers (Google Cloud, for hosting and storage) under standard contractual protections. We'd only disclose information under a valid legal order, and we'd push back on anything overbroad.
4. Security
- All traffic is HTTPS.
- Uploads live in an isolated bucket with signed, short-lived URLs.
- Workers run in ephemeral, single-job containers.
- Access to our infrastructure is limited to a handful of people, audited, and 2FA-required.
5. Cookies
We use essential cookies for basic functionality and a lightweight privacy-preserving analytics tool for aggregate traffic stats. No third-party advertising cookies, no tracking pixels. See Cookies.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete any data we hold about you. Email privacy@formatly.app and we'll respond within 30 days.
7. International transfers
Processing happens on Google Cloud, which may route traffic through multiple regions. Standard data-transfer safeguards (SCCs, etc.) apply.
8. Children
Formatly isn't designed for users under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children; if we learn that we have, we delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We'll update the date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll post a notice on the site.
